Bluefin Tuna Fishing on Monday, September 24th, 2012

Location: Bass River in Cape Cod, MA

We left the dock at 5 AM, and we started fishing at approx. 7:30 AM. The first area was filled with large whales, meaning that bait was plentiful. We set up our outriggers and began trolling. Approximately 2 hours into trolling, we hooked on to a fish which we fought for about 20 mins. It turned out to be a small 55 pounder. We spent some more time trolling, and I was able to hook up another bluefin using a metallic sardine. It was larger than the first one and measured about 62 inches. The tuna bite stopped after the second fish but we still saw a ton of tuna on the fishfinder. Overall, we had a great time and everyone aboard would gladly do it all again.

This is the first fish that we hooked. Its stomach was filled with fresh herring!
